1. v. & n. --v.tr. 1 a make (money etc.) in fraudulent imitation. b write (a document or signature) in order to pass it off as written by another. 2 fabricate, invent. 3 shape (esp. metal) by heating in a fire and hammering. --n. 1 a blacksmith's workshop; a smithy. 2 a a furnace or hearth for melting or refining metal. b a workshop containing this.
